Seminar Information
Seminar Date:
April 12, 2014
Seminar Objectives
  • Identify the role of lifestyle modification (i.e., adhering to a heart healthy diet, regular exercise habits, avoidance of tobacco products, and maintenance of a healthy weight) as a critical component of health promotion and ASCVD risk reduction, both prior to, and in concert with, the use of cholesterol-lowering drug therapies.
  • List the four groups of patients identified in the updated guidelines for whom an extensive body of RCT evidence demonstrated a reduction in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) events with a good margin of safety from statin therapy.
  • Describe how the focus on treating risk, not LDL, changes the clinical encounter for a high risk primary prevention patient.
